Stay away A terrible experience. We booked an excursion to Lake Sandoval; to begin with, we set off an hour later than scheduled. Then we discovered that, apart from the two of us, the group included a (lovely) Peruvian family with an elderly, disabled woman who used a wheelchair. The experience was extremely difficult for her, and she even fell off the boardwalk and got hurt. Naturally, her situation affected the experience for the whole group, slowing things down and imposing limitations. Everyone has the right to go on an excursion, but when a disabled person is involved, things need to be managed properly. Aside from that, the guide accompanying us was completely useless; apart from some information about the tour schedule and a couple of trivia tidbits about a fruit and some turtles, he knew practically nothing.

Great Amazon Experience!! My friend and I had a great time at the Monte Amazonico tour! We did 3D/2N and the variety and duration of activities were perfect. The lake Sandoval tour was definitely a highlight, seeming at times as if the animals knew we were coming and all came out on display! Our guide Ronai was very knowledgeable, funny, friendly and had perfect English. The rooms were spacious and absolutely spotless with good towels, bedding and mosquito nets without holes. The food was good sometimes even super good, and catered to pescatarianism easily. The main area was again spacious and clean with super quick WiFi access and power points. WiFi didn’t reach our room which I enjoyed, the one plug in our room was a little temperamental but no issue as we were unplugged! Pool was clean enough, Monkey Island wasn’t as good compared to how many monkeys we saw in Lake Sandoval but still fun and not how other reviews negatively suggest. There was the noise of the illegal gold mines on the first day but it wasn’t that bothersome and was interesting to learn about. Overall this company deserves a higher rating and I would definitely recommend it, as it is much better value for money than other alternatives. Good location too.

Toller Aufenthalt in der Amazonic Lodge mit kleinen Hindernissen Wir hatten langfristig im Voraus 4 Tage/3 Nächte in der Monte Amazonice Lodge im Tambopata NP mit Sondervereinbarungen zu einem Komplettpreis gebucht und einen geringen Teil anbezahlt. Die Kommunikation im Vorfeld lief sehr gut und zuverlässig. Das änderte sich jedoch kurz vor unserer Anreise. Auf Empfehlung des Veranstalters reisten mir mit dem CIVA Nachtbus an. Unsere voraussichtliche Ankunftszeit hatten wir weit im Voraus mitgeteilt, kurz vorher noch einmal bestätigt und um Mitteilung unserer Abholdetails des gebuchten Transfers vom Busbahnhof gebeten. Darauf gab es keine Rückmeldung mehr, und wir standen nach unserer Ankunft gegen 6:20h morgens in Puerto Maldonano erst mal ahnungslos am Busbahnhof herum. Auf sämtlichen uns bekannten Telefonnummern war zunächst niemand erreichbar, auf WhatsApp Nachrichten und Emails erfolgte keinerlei Rückmeldung. Irgendwann ging dann doch jemand ans Telefon, und nach mehr als einer Stunde Wartezeit wurden wir endlich abgeholt. Die Wartezeit wäre völlig ok gewesen, wenn man uns darüber im Vorfeld informiert hätte. Dann kamen wir im Büro an, und hier wartete das nächste Ärgernis. Man wollte uns einen höheren Preis in Rechnung stellen, als vorher per Email vereinbart worden war. Nach einigen Diskussionen und Vorzeigen des Emailverkehrs, der die gebuchten Konditionen belegte, lenkte der Mitarbeiter letztlich ein. Hinweis: In Peru ist es weit verbreitet, daß auf Zahlungen eine Gebühr erhoben wird, bei Kreditkarten sind es oft 5%. Dies sollte man bei Sonderarrangements einbeziehen (wir hatten dies explizit vereinbart). Nach Ankunft in der Lodge gab es bei der Zimmerverteilung erneut Irritationen. Die Unterkünfte bestehen aus Doppelbungalows, und wir hatten daher zwei Zimmer mit Einzelbelegung in einem Doppelbungalow gebucht. Offenbar hatte man das überhaupt nicht auf dem Schirm, und wir erhielten zunächst nur den Schlüssel für ein Zimmer für uns beide. Nachdem wir dies sofort anmerkten, schienen die Lodgemitarbeiter zunächst etwas ratlos zu sein. Wir hatten den Eindruck, dass nicht genügend Zimmer frei waren und daher andere Reisende aufgefordert wurden, sich ein Zimmer zu teilen. Jedenfalls erhielten wir dann doch ein zweites Zimmer, zwar nicht im selben Doppelbungalow, aber immerhin. Den letzten Kritikpunkt gab es dann im Rahmen unserer Abreise. Wir hatten an der Makaw Clay Lick Tour teilgenommen und sollten nach unserer Rückkehr unsere Sachen zusammenpacken, frühstücken und das letzte Boot nach Puerto Maldonado nehmen. Wir kamen von der Tour jedoch um mehr als eine Stunde verspätet zurück (was nicht in userer Verantwortung lag), daher schaffte es natürlich keiner der Teilnehmer, rechtzeitig am Bootsanleger zu sein. Wir verspäteten uns trotz aller Eile um knapp 10 Minuten. Da hatte das Boot gerade abgelegt, war also noch in Sichtweite. Unter etwas Gezeter eines der Hotelangestellten kehrte das Boot um und nahm unsere Gruppe noch mit. Uns ist völlig unverständlich, wie man so mit Gästen umgehen kann. Der Hotelleitung sollte klar sein, wie viele und welche Gäste abreisen und dass eine Verzögerung der gebuchten Tour auch eine entsprechende Wartezeit des Bootstransfers erfordert - zumal es das letzte Boot des Tages war! Aber nun zum Positiven: Der gesamte Ablauf wirkte gut organisiert, routiniert und eingespielt. Die Guides waren sehr freundlich, kompetent und gesellten sich auch bei den Mahlzeiten zur Gruppe. So konnte man auch viele andere Einblicke aus dem Leben in Peru gewinnen. Das Essen war durchweg sehr gut, es gab auf Wunsch auch eine vegetarische Variante. Einheimische Getränke waren ebenfalls dabei. Ansonsten konnte man sich jederzeit Wasser aus dem Spender zapfen oder andere Getränke an der Bar kaufen. Die Lodges waren groß und wirkten sehr sauber. Es gab heißes Wasser zum Duschen und sogar eine Garderobe im Zimmer, was wir in Peru eher selten hatten. Fensterscheiben gab es nicht, entsprechend hellhörig ist es in den Unterkünften. Wenn man ruhige Nachbarn hat, ist das kein Problem. Die Fenster sind mit Moskitogittern ausgestattet, und über dem Bett gibt es ein Moskitonetz. Strom (aus Solarenergie) stand immer zur Verfügung. Wenn der Akku im Zimmer leer war (kam bei mir nie vor), gab es immer Strom im Restaurant. Es gab auch einen sauber wirkenden Pool zum Abkühlen mit einigen Liegestühlen. Die Touren waren exakt wie auf der Homepage beschrieben, und man fühlte sich bei den gut Englisch sprechenden Guides sicher aufgehoben und kompetent informiert. Insgesamt hatten wir eine tolle Zeit, die durch die beschriebenen Probleme nicht geschmälert wird.

Memorable trip I can see that this place has mixed reviews! I came with my husband and three children (22/20/15) and we all had a good time. The lodge isn't as far into the Amazon as maybe would be exciting but then if it were it wouldn't have Wifi and a lovely swimming pool! So you do a bit of trade-off: adventure v mod cons. Food was decent and plentiful- no one asked us for extra money. Staff were lovely. room was really nice and bed comfy. Not too hot at night- there was a fan. Our guide Fernando was superb- funny, attentive and so so knowledegable. We saw monkeys, capybaras and caimans. THANK YOU, Fernando! Our group was lovely as well :-) Amazing lightning storm over the Amazon as we did the night tour. We had a lot of fun and made good memories. Séjour mitigé Bonjour, Nous regrettons l'accueil qui nous a été réservé. Le transfert aéroport hôtel avait plus vingt minutes de retard. Aucune excuse à l'arrivée à l'agence de Puerto Maldonado. Accueil déplorable de la part de Royer Ccoa qui n'a jamais admis une erreur concernant le site d'hébergement malgré les preuves que nous apportions. Finalement, le séjour s'est plutôt bien passé grâce à Apolo, guide remarquable. Cependant, l'activité pêche est nulle et le dernier jour a été catastrophique. Nous n'avons pas pu observer les perroquets car l'hélice du bateau s'est prise dans un filet de pêche, le pilote s'endormait et le guide fut absolument incompétent.

Pesadilla en la selva! Experiencia horrible: hay películas de miedo que generan menos impacto que este lugar! El alojamiento no se corresponde con las expectativas generadas: fotos de la página. La sensación general fue de abandono, falta de mantenimiento y escasa preocupación por el bienestar de los huéspedes. 1. Instalaciones muy deficientes * Ausencia de agua caliente durante la estancia. Los baños son absolutamente básicos ( sí, estás en la selva… pero habiendo estado en otras selvas, os aseguro que he podido disfrutar de al menos agua templada.., ni un solo objeto de higiene personal, nada más que unas pastillas de jabón) * Habitaciones con iluminación insuficiente, prácticamente a oscuras al caer la noche, además te ruegan que no enciendas mucho la luz para que no se gaste! *En la habitación los enchufes no funcionan para poder cargar teléfonos, cámaras y otros dispositivos, algo especialmente importante en un viaje al Amazonas… si al menos quieres hacer fotos ya que la wifi es prácticamente NULA! Solo funcionan los cargadores que hay en el edificio principal. Nosotros tuvimos la suerte de estar alojados cerca con lo cual podríamos ir a cargar y tener wifi desde nuestra cabaña pero las cabañas que están lejos no tienen ninguna señal. * Instalaciones envejecidas y con un mantenimiento claramente insuficiente. 2. Comedor y restauración * Menú repetitivo todos los días, basado prácticamente siempre en rellenar el plato con arroz y poner algún complemento. En mi caso, que soy vegetariana, lo único que hacían era sustituir la carne con más verdura que en algún momento era insuficiente y tenía que volver a pedir más y cuando servían las mesas del final prácticamente llegaban sin ingredientes, con lo cual no eran los mismos platos que servían al inicio de la comida que al final. * Escasa variedad de alimentos. * Raciones insuficientes. * Servicio lento y desorganizado. * Personal poco atento y con escasa capacidad para atender las necesidades de los huéspedes. 3.Higiene y estado de las zonas comunes * Piscina exterior en un estado de limpieza muy deficiente, el agua de Amazonas es más clara que el agua de esta piscina. Como positivo diré que al menos tiene tumbonas para sentarte a descansar un rato. * La piscina cubierta que aparecía anunciada no fuimos capaces de localizarla * Resulta incomprensible obligar a los huéspedes a entrar descalzos al comedor cuando las condiciones higiénicas del suelo dejaban mucho que desear. * Suelo del comedor deteriorado, con agujeros en el parquet y bastante sucio. 5. Organización de las actividades * Excursiones poco cuidadas y muy alejadas de la calidad que se espera. Si habéis hecho Canopy en algún momento por favor nunca cojáis esta actividad es una absoluta tomadura de pelo te pasan por dos puentes colgantes sin ningún tipo de seguro ni casco ni línea de vida y aunque la actividad en teoría no conlleva ningún riesgo debido al escaso mantenimiento de las instalaciones no es descartado que algún día pase algo. * Sensación de improvisación constante. * En ocasiones la organización recordaba más a un campamento improvisado que a una experiencia en la selva. 5. Servicio o att. al cliente * en este sentido habíamos alquilado dos cabañas y nuestra reserva solo fue una cabaña y aunque nos dijeron que nos iban a buscar la otra cabaña jamás ocurrió tuvimos que preguntar y solo al final nos dijeron que se había quedado una cabaña libre cuando ya al día siguiente, nos teníamos que marchar. * uno de los guías o no sé bien cómo definirlo…. Ronald es un ser de despótico que, aunque habla castellano perfectamente prefiere encargarse de los grupos en inglés y aunque tiene un inglés macarrónico intenta evadirse de los grupos que hablan castellano y no hacer ningún gesto para facilitar la estancia. * Falta de empatía y de interés por resolver los problemas planteados por los clientes. 7. Conclusión * El entorno de la selva es espectacular, pero el alojamiento y la gestión no están a la altura. * Una experiencia que no recomendaríamos debido a la acumulación de deficiencias en instalaciones, limpieza, restauración, organización y atención al cliente. Únicamente y como punto destacable de esta experiencia, resaltaré el nombre de FERNANDO. Es la única persona, como guía que está a la altura en un lugar tan deficiente. Una aventura excepcional! Realizamos el tour de 3D/2N y se nos hizo corto! Fue todo muy bien organizado, vimos un montón de fauna y flora de la Amazonia. Nuestros guías Rodrigo y Fernando eran geniales! Fernando es como una enciclopedia sobre la naturaleza, te lo cuenta todo al más mínimo detalle pero no te aburre para nada! Es súper interesante y es una persona muy simpática y graciosa también :) tiene respuesta a todas las preguntas que puedas tener relacionadas con la reserva y las actividades realizadas. Las cabañas estaban limpias, las toallas olían genial! Las piscinas siempre bien mantenidas y se podían utilizar en cualquier momento del días. Hay wifi de starlink y funciona fenomenal. Las comidas son buenísimas y porciones muy generosas - tanto en Hacienda como en Monte Amazonico (los dos lodges donde operan). Los traslados están muy bien organizados y los capitanes de cada barco muy pendientes de la seguridad de los pasajeros. Muy, muy recomendable! Sin duda lo repetiría y por más días! Too pricey for low service +bad food and very few wildlife I stayed with my partner at Monte Amazonico Lodge, with a full package of accommodation, excursions and meals for 4 nights/ 3 days for 600$, which is a pretty high sum of pesos if you consider the standard prices in Perú. We had already been in Perú for 24 days prior to our visit to the Amazon jungle and this was by far the worst money/ value experience. First, the short trips to the jungle were really brief and did not match the description we were given: the Monkey island has indeed 13 monkeys in total we found out there, out of which we saw a total of 1 monkey. The 2 hour introductory walk in the jungle was 55 minutes in what seemed a pretty tamed version of the Amazon rainforest, with young trees and no animals (we were told about tucans, capibaras, otters, etc). Even the trip to Lake Maldonado, which actually was 6 hours, had a full 1 hour stop in the middle of nowhere in which we were left alone to chat or check our phones. Most of the time we spent doing nothing in our room or the small pool they have with a bunch of other tourists.. Also, the fishing trip was short and in a really polluted location full of plastic bottles and oily water, we of course fished nothing as we soon ran out of bait and the guide called it off. The canopy walk and the ziplines, which were meant to be two separate activities (and paid for as such) was actually just one, as u go down the zipline and come back on the canopy. We did it in the middle of a heavy rain, while the guy that helped our guide claimed “ this is actually dangerous today with all this rain”. It lasted less than one hour in total. As for the food, it was scarce, low quality and always the same (as opposed to any of the meals we had been having in Perú so far, even in trips and excursions like this) And you have 3 meals a day, which left us starving between the 1 oclock lunch and the 19:30 dinner. It’s also worth mentioning that we were not allowed to bring in our 1-month-suitcases and we had to repack some essentials in a backpack and leave our luggage in the office in Puerto Maldonado, only to find other people in the resort with suitcases the exact size as ours. I’m not saying don’t go, just dont keep your hopes up that you’ll see plenty of animals. And bring snacks, a pack of cards and a thick book for the many hours of idleness.

Great way to experience the southern Amazon This was a great way to see and spend time in the Amazon! Samuel, our tour guide, was so knowledgeable and great! We were LUCKY to have him. The lodging was BEAUTIFUL—big, spacious, and clean with an insect net over the bed to protect you while you’re sleeping. The exotic sounds of the Amazon soothe you to sleep. No hot water, but it’s so warm and humid out the shower feels refreshing. Pool was great. Food was delicious. Tour excursions were fun with just enough downtime in between. Outlet charger didn’t work in my room, but the main lodge has so many charging ports, I was able to charge my phone during mealtimes. At first the overall price seemed like a lot, but broken down into 4 days…it actually covers A LOT since it covers your accommodations for 3 nights, transportation (pickup AND dropoff at the airport), all your meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), AND all the excursions! Worth every penny!
